Back on October 13, history was made with Texas' first-ever Carrotmob at LaGrange in Deep Ellum, a music and historic district just east of downtown Dallas. Recently voted "Best Bar of 2010" by The Dallas Observer, LaGrange is set to get even better thanks to those who "mobbed" the bar/restaurant.
Having pledged 81.5% of revenue from that evening for sustainability and energy improvements, owners Rob and Stephanie Schumacher recently shared their action plan for spending the roughly $3,000 that was raised. You can view the full Carrotmob Action Plan for more details, but highlights include:
- An outdoor bike rack to be installed in the front patio area
- Solar insulating film to be applied on their front windows
- LED lighting to replace all fluorescent bulbs
- Recycling bins for glass, cans, and paper
- A rainwater barrel to water their plants
- Reusable containers, eliminating the sale of bottled water
And, as an ongoing effort, LaGrange will offer drink specials for bikers and free coffee for those who bring in their own mug. LaGrange truly went above and beyond, and we hope you will continue to support them.
Stay tuned for more Carrotmob news ... looks like Dallas' second-ever should be around the corner!
