Make plans now to join this Saturday, Feb. 18, as we welcome national author, speaker and educator Mark Winne to discuss the state of our country's community food systems, food policy and food security. He also will be signing copies of his latest book, "Food Rebels, Guerrilla Gardners and Smart Cookin' Mamas: Fighting ..., which will be available for purchase.

The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 18, at KERA, located at 3000 Harry Hines Boulevard. The Hunger Task Force of the Memnosyne Foundation and Green Source DFW are co-sponsoring the event with Net Impact DFW.

Mark, who is in DFW to be the keynote speaker for the Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association Conference (Feb. 17... is co-founder of the Community Food Security Coalition where he now works as the Food Policy Council Project Director. He recently was appointed to the position of Visiting Scholar at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

As a writer on food issues, Mark’s work has appeared in the Washington Post, The Nation, Sierra, Orion, and Yes!, to name a few. In addition to his latest book, he also wrote "Closing the Gap: Resetting the Table in the Land of Plenty".
